Frequently Asked Questions

What is a cola?

A cola is the flowering top of a female cannabis plant where the bud develops.

Fun Fact: Due to canopy-sun exposure, the cola at the very top of the plant has the most potent trichomes, and each individual bud will be most potent at its tip.

What are sugar leaves?

The small leaves that hold cannabis buds together. They are called sugar leaves due to the high concentration of trichomes that have a sugar-like appearance. This appearance is due to the resin glands that look like a white coating.

Why are sugar leaves on my weed?

Colas are typically trimmed to remove the excess sugar. Excess sugar leaves aren't normally discarded during the trimming process but are often used in making edibles or concentrates. It's our belief that sugar leaves shouldn’t be discarded but be celebrated because they bring you closer to cannabis cultivation and plant biology. Plus, who doesn’t want more trichomes?

Will this be a smooth smoke?

Smooth is in the eye of the beholder.

Pro tip: If in general you find smoking harsh then consider an all-flower vaporizer. These are the smoothest for inhalation and offer a unique cannabis high!

How do I smoke this?

As you usually do or grind it for the perfect pre-roll.

Do I need to trim the leaves?

Up to you! We suggest smoking them with and without. Either way, you’ll better understand how plant biology and trimming practices affect your high.

Why are my fingers so sticky?

Trichomes baby.

The leaves weigh more so I’m getting ripped off!

It might seem that way but in fact, it just might be the opposite. Since sugar leaves pack a trichome punch you’re getting cannabinoid action that you wouldn’t find in your normal 8th. Don’t fret though by weight we’re equal to our peers.

Why are the leaves getting yellow? Is this old weed?

Sugar leaves tend to turn yellow quicker than the rest of the bud. When this occurs, we would recommend removing them with your fingers or trimming scissors.

Suggestion: These trichome-dense trimmings can be used as a garnish in stir-fry or tossed directly into a smoothie for a light effect.

What’s up with this lid?

Our lids are home compostable and marine biodegradable. Why? Well, we love biology and we love mother nature so it only made sense to make sure that our packaging was sustainable. Learn more about the lid attributes;

Home compostable: This is your most basic home compost situation. A pile in your backyard that gets a turn with the pitchfork from time to time. Add our lids to your backyard beauty and in about 14-18 months they’ll have completely broken down. Learn more.

Marine Biodegradable: Our lids are engineered to essentially biodegrade and disappear. Certified tests show that they achieve complete marine biodegradation. How does our lid compare to conventional plastic lids? Who really knows, but it's estimated that petrochemical-based lids typically would require at least 200 years to disintegrate.
